Gary T. Puma
President and Chief Executive Officer
As chief executive of New Jersey's largest not-for-profit senior housing corporation, Mr. Puma oversees an organization that serves nearly 3,500 residents in 23 communities. He has responsibility for an annual operating budget of $150 million and assets of $500 million.
Mr. Puma joined Springpoint in 1978. He was appointed President and CEO in October, 1997 and initiated a strategic development plan that led to dynamic growth in continuing care, assisted living and affordable housing communities within targeted markets.
Mr. Puma has established innovative model programming in the areas of assisted living for affordable housing residents. He has testified before the United States Congress about affordable housing financing and services. In 1996, Mr. Puma was honored with the New Jersey State Governor’s Award for Management Excellence. More recently, he served on the 2010 Governor's Healthcare Sub Committee Transition Team.
Mr. Puma’s progressive leadership has been nationally recognized: LeadingAge named him as recipient of its 2009 Excellence in Leadership Award. He has been recognized within New Jersey as well, receiving the President's Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Field of Aging from LeadingAge New Jersey. In 2011, Mr. Puma received Monmouth University’s Distinguished Business Leader Award.
James S. Vaccaro
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Vaccaro is responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of Springpoint Senior Living and its affiliated communities statewide as well as for the establishment and attainment of the company's policies, goals and objectives. Together with Mr. Puma and other senior executives, he sets strategy and direction for the company.
Mr. Vaccaro joined Springpoint in 2011, bringing more than 20 years of executive leadership experience. He served most recently as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Central Jersey Bancorp in Ocean Township.
In addition to a strong background in banking and finance, Mr. Vaccaro brings health care expertise and a commitment to community and business leadership. He serves on numerous not-for-profit boards and committees throughout New Jersey.
Garrett Midgett III
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Midgett's responsibilities include oversight of financial reporting and policies, investments and strategic planning. He is also charged with implementing financial policy as approved by the Springpoint board and required by governmental agencies and regulators. Mr. Midgett joined Springpoint in 1994 as controller for one of Springpoint's affiliated communities and after a series of promotions was named to his current position in 2008. Earlier, Mr. Midgett worked for a Manhattan CPA and consulting firm specializing in healthcare.
Maureen E. Cafferty
Senior Vice President, General Counsel
Ms. Cafferty is responsible for analysis of legal and policy issues relating to development and financing, acquisitions, contract negotiations, employment law and health care regulatory matters. Ms. Cafferty joined PHS in 1999. She previously held the position of associate for Dechert Price & Rhoads.
Linda Rose
Senior Vice President, Health Services
Ms. Rose oversees health care services at Springpoint’s continuing care retirement and assisted living communities. Her responsibilities include clinical services, regulatory compliance and quality improvements.
Ms. Rose is an advanced practice nurse specializing in geriatrics. She is also a licensed nursing home administrator. Ms. Rose joined Springpoint in 2000 and was named to her current position in 2011. That same year, Ms. Rose was named LeadingAge New Jersey’s Professional of the Year.
Anthony A. Argondizza
Senior Vice President, Operations
Mr. Argondizza's responsibilities include the operation, budgets and strategic planning for Springpoint's five continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) as well as for Springpoint's consulting clients. Mr. Argondizza joined Springpoint in 1994 and after a series of promotions was named to his current position in 2010.
Pamela I. Smith
Senior Vice President of Strategy
Ms. Smith is responsible for the company’s strategic planning — including repositioning and new campus development — both internally and on behalf of consulting clients. Ms. Smith joined Springpoint in 2009 with more than 20 years of senior housing experience. She was named to her current position in 2011.
Joseph T. Claffey
Senior Vice President, Chief Philanthropy Officer, Springpoint Foundation
Mr. Claffey is responsible for planning and directing fundraising and related activities for Springpoint's philanthropic and community enrichment arm. These include major gift prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, as well as capital campaign development. Additionally he oversees educational and cultural programming, major events planning and an internship program. Mr. Claffey, who joined Springpoint in 2003, served formerly as the Vice President for Development at Saint Peter's College.
